With Croajingalong National Park to the east, Cape Conran Coastal Park to the west and Bemm State Forest to the north, opportunities to explore the coastal bush are certainly plentiful, attracting nature based adventurers including bird watchers, eco-tourists and hikers. Bemm River is perhaps best known for its fishing, with many of the town’s facilities having the angler in mind. It is one of Victoria’s prime spots for bream and has a reputation as a top area for flathead. Best fishing results are generally achieved from a boat in the inlet, though there are also the options of river and surf or rock fishing to the south west of town. The town’s main boat ramp at Luderick Point has recently been replaced and the jetty facilities upgraded, much to the delight of locals and the many visitors to the town who rely on a good launch site. There are three other fishing platforms along the river from which to drop a line. Luderick Point Memorial Park is a popular launching place for canoes and kayaks. A WARM WELCOME Right in the heart of Bemm River you’ll find Bemm River Caravan Park, the perfect place to call home as you enjoy a well-earned getaway in this tranquil coastal village. Your hosts, Greg and Mandy Forrester, love the town they call home and sharing the area’s attractions with visitors is what they’re all about. Their park has accommodation options perfect for any situation, whether you’re in the area for the great fishing opportunities or just looking for a coastal break, with three fully equipped two-bedroom cabins sleeping up to six people, 40 powered and 40 unpowered camp and caravan sites, all just 50 metres from the lake edge. Some sites at the elevated western end of the park provide lake views and all are well grassed and spacious. The camp kitchen has electric barbecues and a big open fire, always a great way to spend an evening after a day of exploring. Pets are welcome outside of facilities provided they are under control at all times. Bemm River is a popular destination for those looking to drop a line to snag a bream or flathead. It is also among the favourite spots for competition anglers.
