From feature-packed Phillip Island, through to the sparkling NSW Sapphire Coast, the Lakes Coast region is endowed with majestic mountains, rolling green hills, quaint coastal towns, pristine stretches of surf and sand, and the largest inland waterway in the country – the Gippsland Lakes. The fabulous waterways are at their best in summer, and anglers come from all over to try their luck in boats, or from the shores of the region’s lakes, rivers and beaches. In this edition of the Lakes Coast Visitor Guide, we’ll help you discover the surprising array of sights, attractions and activities available in this stunning region. The Lakes Coast has much to offer, from camping and hiking in wilderness bushland, or bike riding on the region’s extensive network of rail trails and mountain bike tracks, to discovering historic townships and ancient indigenous heritage, or visiting the area’s many wonderful galleries, wineries, cafes, farm gates, markets, restaurants and so much more.
