The town is filled with delightful cafés, bakeries, restaurants, and more. Originally a timber town, you can learn about its heritage by visiting the Heyfield Timber Workers Memorial and the Heyfield Wetlands Visitor Centre. Market days Heyfield Market is held the first Saturday of every month from 8am at John Greaves Memorial Park, Temple Street, Heyfield. The market has a wide variety of stalls, including some offering plants, jewellery, cakes, trash and treasure, plus much more. Mountain bike thrills For those who prefer exploring on two wheels, the Blores Hill Mountain Bike Tracks are a great option. With more than 25 tracks, ranging from beginner-friendly paths to advanced routes, there's something for everyone. You'll encounter jumps, bridges, rocky outcrops, technical challenges, and long, flowing trails, all set within beautiful bushland. Head for the High Country If you're planning to visit the Alpine National Park this winter, start your journey from Heyfield. Head out on the main road to Licola for a 56-kilometre drive. Licola is the last stop to stock-up on supplies before you venture into the stunning High Country that surrounds the town. Iconic drive For adventure-seekers, the Wonnangatta Iconic Drive is a must-do in the Alpine National Park. This 222-kilometre loop offers a deep dive into the rich history and heritage of the High Country, taking you through the Wonnangatta Valley, the Grant Historic Area, and up to the Howitt and Dargo High Plains, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking alpine panoramas.
