PAGE 86 | LAKES COAST VISITOR GUIDE LAKE TYERS BEACH Where lake tranquility meets crashing surf Only a short drive from Lakes Entrance, Lake Tyers Beach is a quiet and secluded piece of pristine coastline, perfect for those who want to chill out and relax. You can walk along the 90 Mile Beach for hours and not see a soul, or take part in some more energetic activities. Lake Tyers Beach combines the tranquillity of the lake setting within a short walk of crashing surf, so it's the best of both worlds for water lovers. Surfers can check out the swell at Red Bluff, the most renowned surfing spot in the region, and anglers can try their luck along the beach or lake. Swimming, canoeing and boating are also popular, and there's a boat ramp and jetty to access the lake. The quiet village of Lake Tyers is serviced by a general store, a bottle shop and tavern, all overlooking the beach. Nearby, Lake Tyers Forest Park covers 7,100 hectares, extending from Pettmans Beach to the eastern entrance at Lake Tyers Beach, and to the north at Mount Nowa Nowa. The park is popular with birdwatchers, and offers low-impact bushwalking and camping. Lake Tyers combines the serenity of an estuarine lake with a pristine surf beach. You can walk along the 90 Mile Beach for hours and not see a soul.
