East Gippsland Art Gallery is thrilled to be once again exhibiting the EGAG WRAP small artwork prize. Last year the inaugural prize attracted 190 entries and people came in droves on opening night. A delicate drawing titled, Erase , by 17-year-old Emma Hearnes, was the winner of the first EGAG WRAP. There is something for everyone in this eclectic group show and all works are sold off-the-wall. This means that when you purchase the work, you can take it and go - perfect for travellers who are passing through. EGAG WRAP runs during the busy months of December and January and last year attracted more than 2000 visitors to the gallery. Running from December 6 to January 19, it will officially open on the evening of Friday, December 7. From January 25 to February 23, Klara Jones and Sue Fraser will exhibit Picnicking with the Wolves . Fairy stories have been around for hundreds of years, yet they still remain popular and relevant. The power of these tales lies in the truths they speak of - love, bravery, cruelty and deceit. Klara Jones and Sue Fraser express through their art, the magic that these tales have to illustrate all that is good and bad within us all. The Gallery Shop stocks a diverse range of works by local artists and the friendly staff is able to provide visitors with information about other arts venues, artists and art and cultural activities in the region. EGAG WRAP, won last year by Emma Hearnes’ Erase (above), and the Picnicking with the Wolves exhibition, with pieces by Sue Fraser ( Losing the plot , below) and Klara Jones will exhibit at East Gippsland Art Gallery this summer.
