Coonawarra Trail Rides has provided wonderful opportunities for first-timers and experienced riders alike, to explore the magnificent countryside in the foothills south of Dargo with trail rides, overnight rides and horsemanship programs for more than 25 years. Trail rides over a one, one-and-a-half and two-hour duration are available, but if you wish to extend your experience, an overnight trail ride to The Barn is just the ticket. A magnificent old building set on a picturesque creek flat amid peaceful surroundings, The Barn is the destination of a professionally guided tour on horseback, a destination that will leave you in awe. The riding trails of Coonawarra trek up and down beautiful foothills, through native bushland and creek crossings, with the scenic mountain range south of Dargo towering above. Sit back, relax and enjoy a leisurely ride through the spectacular foothills. Horse and rider are paired to suit the individual’s level of ability, ensuring a most pleasurable experience. Alpine wilderness Bounded by the Alpine and Snowy River national parks, wilderness areas and state forests, Karoonda Park, Gelantipy, provides a convenient base for exploration of this special country. Under the Karoonda Park umbrella, Snowy River Expeditions offers a broad range of adventure-based experiences and tours in Victoria’s Snowy River Country. White water raft the Snowy River, which lies some 700 vertical metres beneath the Gelantipy plateau. Trips start in either the Kosciuszko, Alpine or Snowy River national parks, determined by the river water level and the group’s chosen trip.
