LAKES COAST VISITOR GUIDE | PAGE 97 BEMM RIVER With access to some of the most remote beaches you’ll find on the Victorian coastline, Bemm River is surrounded by natural beauty. Located close to national, state and coastal parks, there are many opportunities to explore the beaches and wilderness bushland that make this area so popular with hikers, bird watchers and eco tourists. A fishing mecca And while the natural beauty of this region is a feast for the senses, Bemm River is best known as a mecca for fishing. It is one of Victoria’s prime locations for bream, and has a reputation as a top area for flathead too. Best fishing results are generally achieved from a boat in the inlet, although there are also plenty of options for river, surf and rock fishing to the southwest of town. Popular fishing spots include the inlet jetty and platforms along the river, while those looking to go canoeing and kayaking will find a launching place at Luderick Point Memorial Park. Bemm River Caravan Park Situated right in the heart of this tranquil coastal village, Bemm River Caravan Park is the perfect place to call home as you enjoy a getaway in this wonderful region. Hosts, Greg and Mandy Forrester, love the town they call home, and they enjoy sharing their knowledge of the area’s best attractions. Their park has a variety of accommodation options. So, whether you’re in the area for the fabulous fishing, or just looking for a coastal break, you’ll find accommodation to meet your needs. The park features three fully-equipped, two-bedroom cabins sleeping up to six people, and located just 50 metres from the lake edge. Some of the many caravan and camping sites at the park provide lake views, and all are well grassed, spacious and a just a stone’s throw from a fishing spot. The park’s camp kitchen has electric barbecues and a large open fire - always a wonderful way to spend an evening after a day of fishing or exploring.
